National Citizen Observatory · Western Palaearctic
A participatory programme for hunters across France — collect, analyse and share your field observations.
The programme
This programme relies on a network of hunter-observers to collect precise field data, analyse migratory trends and build a solid scientific case.
The Observatory answers your questions: where are the thrushes, ducks, wood pigeons? Which species is abundant this year? What direction is the migration taking?
These results allow better monitoring of migration, wintering and breeding, complementing research conducted with more complex protocols.
A shared form for everyone, easy to fill in after each outing. Municipality, time, weather, species observed.
Results are processed and presented as maps and trends accessible to all participants.
A scientific reference tool against regulatory challenges — solid arguments based on your observations.

Your routes, your areas, your outings — nothing changes. Simply note your observations on the shared form.
Data entry is done directly on this site. Easily find your forms by year, month, municipality or species.
Each observer has permanent access to their own observations — a valuable record of your outings.
Two periods
Migration &
Wintering
Note the direction of movement of birds observed in flight.
Breeding
Note the number of fledged birds and the number of unfledged birds.
